Many people feel that there is a limited amount of abundance, wealth, or chances to succeed in life. Furthermore, there is a solid belief that if one person succeeds, another must fail.

This might be true, in some cases, such as in a small company or school, where opportunity is limited by management. However, the world is a big place, and there are opportunities created from ideas that help people, and no one gets hurt in the process.

Below are two examples of success that have not taken anything away from anyone:

Danny Thomas: With his promise, prayers, and vision, for St. Jude’s Hospital, he received the help of friends in the Arab-American community to build a fantastic charity. Some of us also believe he received divine help.

There is much more to this story, but what did this hospital or charity take away from anyone? Aren’t the children who recover from cancer living proof that this idea, and prosperity, is for the pure benefit of mankind? There is no one who is hurt by this, and Marlo Thomas has picked up where her father left off.

Yoga teachers: Many unfulfilled members of the workforce have left their jobs to teach the benefits of Yoga to the masses. They teach their students to enjoy life, deal with stress, breathe properly, improve their posture, become aware of their bodies, and many more benefits.

Do these jobs take food away from anyone? When someone starts a business, do they take food away from another competitor? If you believe your competition is your problem, it will be. This is limited thinking, and you have to learn to think “outside the box,” in order to be successful in life.

Don’t waste time on bad thoughts. You can easily co-exist in harmony with them, become friends, and learn from them. There is enough opportunity for everyone. This should be your mantra: Observe your competition, learn from their mistakes, and when possible, copy their success.

This is why you need to take a mandatory vacation and get fresh ideas. This is why you should take a notebook with you. I still prefer the “old fashioned,” spiral bound notebook, with a pen in hand.

Everyone has a niche, make sure you cultivate yours, and develop your own identity, in life. Always remember, the sky is the limit, and you are only restrained by your own thoughts.

5 Quick Ways To Ease Stress, Depression & Anxiety

1. Take regular breaks from the firing line. Working hard without regular breaks is a great way to build up stress and tension. Make sure you have at least one 15-minute break in the morning and one in the afternoon as well as at least 20 minutes for lunch. If possible, eat lunch away from your workstation. Equally, if you have a lot to deal with in your life right now, taking a day, or a weekend elsewhere – longer if you can – to get some breathing space will really help. Even just a day away from the firing line will enable you to get some distance from the problems and help you to gather your thoughts.

2. Regular exercise can help relieve stress, depression and anxiety. Exercise releases endorphins into your system and will give you a natural boost. It will also provide you with a break from brooding and dwelling upon problems and troubles – but only if you perform the right kind of exercises. Avoid: Exercises that allow you to brood (weight lifting, jogging, treadmills) and perform exercises that require your full concentration. Competitive sports such as squash, tennis, badminton and circuit training are all excellent examples. It is important that you do not brood when you exercise because although you will be benefiting physically, you are still stressing yourself mentally and the stress, depression and anxiety will worsen.

3. Stop beating yourself up. Self-deprecation is a huge part of stress, depression and anxiety. Each time you beat up on yourself, you will erode confidence and self-esteem. Never tell yourself you’re useless, worthless, stupid, hopeless, boring, ugly, and a loser. Never convince yourself that other people hate you, that others find you difficult to be around and that you’re better off being alone. You would never deem it acceptable to say such things to other people and you must deem it equally unacceptable to say them to yourself. These words and phrases are powerful and they will hurt you. Accept you’re not perfect and that you make mistakes – just like everybody else does – and cut yourself some slack. From this day, make a pact with me to never indulge self-deprecation ever again. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE.

4. Isolation is another problem experienced by stress, depression and anxiety sufferers. OK, there will be times when you just want your own company. During such times, you can brood over and over again on problems and events and beat yourself up for hours on end. Not good. Instead, use isolation more positively. Occupy your mind by tackling a jigsaw puzzle, a logic problem, a crossword, read a book or perform a hobby such as painting, playing a musical instrument or whatever it is you have an interest in. In this way, isolation will help you to grow instead of causing you further pain.

5. Television, radio and newspapers can all supply you with a daily hit of negativity and help lower your mood. In the main, they concentrate on the negative side of life: crime, corruption, war, scandal and natural disasters and can give you a distorted view of reality. Not to mention the amount of image manipulation they subject you to. Give yourself a break from this negative drip feed and avoid them completely for one week. You may find, like I have, that they have no place in your life after that. Trust me, you won’t miss them.

How to Train your Brain to Keep You Healthy and Happy

Whatever it is, scientists are in the process of proving that internal change is the only thing that can give you health and happiness. Everything else is an illusion.

What does this mean?

Your brain is the only thing that can keep you healthy and happy.

Richard Davidson, a neuroscientist at the University of Wisconsin and Jon Kabat-Zinn from the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre have just completed some interesting research that can actually be of benefit to you and me and the way we run our lives.

pexels-photo-268095.jpegThey took a group of 41 stressed, but otherwise healthy, individuals working in a biotechnology firm in Wisconsin. 25 were taught meditation. In this case: mindfulness meditation. The group met for a 2.5 to 3 hour meditation class each week. After six weeks they all attended a seven hour meditation retreat. In addition each member was asked to meditate, at home, for one hour a day using a guided meditation tape.

The other 16 were held as a control group and did not receive meditation training until the study was completed.

At the end of the eight week programme, in November, they also gave all the participants a flu jab. And guess what. The members of the meditation group had a significant increase in antibody tiers, in other words they have less chance of catching flu.

The bottom line appears to be. If you want to have good health and overcome the day by day blues and maintain happiness learn to meditate. When you meditate you change the way your brain operates.

In addition, they found, the more you practice meditation the better is your daily performance.

”What we found is that the long time practitioners showed brain activation on a scale we have never seen before. Their mental practice is having an effect on the brain in the same way golf or tennis practice will enhance performance.” It demonstrates, that the brain is capable of being trained and physically modified in ways few people can imagine.

Graphology: The pathological liar

I was at my examination center the last weekend for taking my language test when I came across a very strange and unusual thing. Yes, I admit I have met a lot of liars but this one is pretty unusual, because this time I met a pathological liar and I did not recognize it until I got her signature on my identity card.

The pathological liarYes, she was one of the invigilators in the examination center. Before we move on let me explain what a pathological liar is. It is a person that frequently tells lies or makes up situations and eventually starts thinking that his/her lies are actually the truth. Psychiatrists call this state of mind Pseudologia fantastica (Sounds fantastic! right?). According to Wikipedia, Pathological lying is considered a mental illness, because it takes over rational judgment and progresses into the fantasy world and back.

Well, reading the above mentioned statement you might have leaned over to read the seriousness of this illness. This condition not only hinders a person’s mental capacity to understand the real situations but also becomes the main cause of many broken relationships and misunderstandings with other people. But we need to understand it is not the fault of the person, it is just his/her mental state. It is all subconsciously triggered.

How do you find a pathological liar?

A pathological liar is someone who has BIIIIIIGGGGGGG left and right loops in his/her o’s and a’s. A word of caution: do not consider all the people having two loops in their o’s to be liars. There are various factors to be considered before making the final judgement.

How can you help?

Well, it is obvious that it is a mental illness so either consult a psychiatrist or a graphologist who can guide the person with proper corrective actions. If you find such person do help him/her get out of this situation.

Handling stress!

You might have realized that as we are advancing in our lives, our stress level is also increasing. And we take it as a natural law that age and stress are directly proportional to each other. But in actuality, it is not so. Think about this: are we on this earth to suffer stress? Of course, not.

Here are some of the tips you can use to handle the stress and reduce it:

1.) Have a positive attitude:

Be positive. Be positive about people, about situations and challenges. Understand that problems and challenges come in life so that we can improve our life by improving ourselves.

2.) Love whom you hate:

Having hatred for fellow beings will definitely not give you happiness but having a loving feeling towards every human being may give happiness and can act as an antidote of stress.

3.) Don’t take life too seriously:

When ever you feel like you are taking life too seriously, just think about the above picture and have a hearty laugh. Don’t take life too seriously, that will relieve much of your stress instantly. After all it is said Don’t take life too seriously, you can not get out of it alive. So enjoy every moment of your life. Every minute you are stressful you waste 60 seconds of your life which you might have spent smiling, laughing or being happy.

4.) Laugh out loud (LOL):

Whenever you are stressed try laughing out loud. Search for jokes on the internet or watch a comedy movie. That will take your attention off the issue and stress.

5.) Share:

When nothing is working, just share your problem with a friend or a dear one. Because a problem shared is a problem halved.

So the next time you feel burnt out due to stress try making your life more colorful, greener and lighter and definitely stress will fly out of your life.
